“Surrexit Christus, spes mea” –
“Christ, my hope, has risen.”
This triumphant voice of Mary Magdalene resonates
in our hearts as we celebrate Easter, the most
important day of Christians all over the world. Mary
ran to the other disciples and announced: “I have
seen the Lord!” (John 20:18). We who have
pilgrimaged through the Lenten desolation also

shout the cry of victory: “He has risen!”. The
experience of Mary Magdalene changes our lives:
the encounter with a Man who resurrected and lets
us experience all of God’s goodness and truth, frees
us from evil, heals us from all sorts of sicknesses,
and restores our selfworth. Through His su erings,
Jesus became one with humanity, and through His
Resurrection, Jesus inspires us with a new hope so
that we will have eternal and glorified life.
The true meaning of Easter is so much more than
Easter Eggs or sharing chocolate bunnies. The
supernatural gift of Easter is hope. Easter intends to
be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life, that No
winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn. As

Holland, “Let the resurrection joy lift us from
loneliness, weakness, and despair to strength,
beauty, and happiness." “He knows the way
because He is the way.” These words empower us to
understand the true meaning of Easter.
The physical resurrection signifies the restoration to
life of a transformed body powered by spirit, as
described by St. Paul and the Gospels, that led to
the establishment of Christianity. For Christians, the
